801 PROBLEM SOLVING SETS The program demonstrates A. J. Luchin's famous problems which require subjects to obtain a specific quantity of water by measuring with three different sized containers. Each time the program is run, the user is presented with 10 different problems, one at a time, which require that combinations of opaque jugs be filled and emptied in a systematic way in order to obtain a designated amount of water in a fourth container. Extensive animation is employed to help the user to conceptualize the problem.
